የሕንድ የሆቴል እና ሬስቶራንት ማህበራት ፌዴሬሽን (ኤፍኤችአይኤ) ፣ recognized as the world’s third-largest hospitality association, has commended the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024-29 for its transformative approach. The policy is hailed as a game-changer aimed at reshaping the state’s tourism sector through fostering investments, upgrading infrastructure, and emphasizing sustainability. With its comprehensive framework, the policy aspires to establish Andhra Pradesh as a global tourism destination while promoting economic growth, cultural preservation, and community development.
Hospitality Sector Awarded “Industry Status”
Under the new policy, the Andhra Pradesh Government has granted “Industry Status” to the hospitality and tourism sector, covering all segments. This landmark decision underscores the sector’s pivotal role in driving economic growth, creating employment, and promoting regional development. The policy reflects a strategic vision to position Andhra Pradesh as a premier international tourism hub, focusing on inclusive growth and cultural vibrancy.
Ambitious Vision and Goals
The state’s Vision 2047 aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a global tourism hub, offering diverse experiences across spiritual, coastal, ecological, and wellness tourism, all underpinned by sustainable development practices. By 2029, the policy targets an increase in tourism’s contribution to the state’s Gross Value Added (GVA) from 4.6% to 8% and aims to boost tourism-related employment from 12% to 15%. Additionally, it seeks to attract ₹25,000 crore in private investments, showcasing its ambitious roadmap.
Seven Hubs and 25 Circuits: Expanding Tourism Horizons
The policy outlines plans to develop seven key tourism hubs and 25 thematic circuits focusing on beach tourism, eco-tourism, river cruises, Buddhist heritage, and temple tourism. These initiatives are driven by four core pillars: Diverse Tourism Offerings, Infrastructure Development, Sustainable Practices, and a Strong Governance Framework.
Incentives to Propel Growth
To encourage investment, the policy introduces significant fiscal incentives, including 100% Stamp Duty reimbursement for land acquisition or leasing related to tourism projects, waiver of Land Conversion Charges, and full reimbursement for expenses related to obtaining quality certifications. It also provides a Capital Subsidy of 25% of fixed capital investment (FCI) for MSMEs and 10% for Large, Mega, and Ultra-Mega Tourism Projects, with specific limits.
Streamlining Approvals and Boosting Investor Confidence
Beyond financial benefits, the policy incorporates non-financial measures such as a single-window clearance system to streamline approvals and the establishment of Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) to oversee key hubs and circuits. District-level hubs will also be introduced to assist investors and monitor project progress, ensuring seamless execution and enhanced accountability.
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024-29 stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to creating a world-class tourism ecosystem that integrates innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity. By harnessing its unique cultural and natural assets, the policy promises to elevate Andhra Pradesh to new heights on the global tourism map.
Reacting to this development, Mr. K. Syama Raju, President of FHRAI, further stated: “Andhra Pradesh has taken a giant leap in Tourism and Hospitality. Recognising tourism as an industry, combined with substantial incentives for private investors and a focus on thematic circuits, will elevate the state’s appeal to tourists. With its emphasis on sustainability and community empowerment, this policy has the potential to create significant economic and employment opportunities. FHRAI is keen to collaborate with the state government to achieve these ambitious goals.”
FHRAI Praises Andhra Pradesh’s Bold Tourism Policy as a Model for India
FHRAI firmly believes that granting ‘Industry Status’ to the tourism and hospitality sector, coupled with the comprehensive incentives outlined in the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024-2029, will significantly lower operational costs, enhance ease of doing business, and attract both domestic and international investments. This progressive move positions Andhra Pradesh as a dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable leader in India’s tourism landscape while setting a visionary precedent for other states to emulate.
The policy’s strategic combination of fiscal incentives, sustainable practices, and inclusive initiatives establishes a benchmark for other states to replicate. By integrating infrastructure development, private investments, and workforce training with sustainability and community welfare, the policy aims to elevate Andhra Pradesh to a prominent position in India’s tourism sector.
With its transformative approach, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024-2029 is unlocking the state’s vast tourism potential while fostering economic growth, empowering local communities, and strengthening the hospitality industry.
